Masood Khan also highlights negative and positive impacts of Covid-19 on environment

AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has urged scientists, bioscientists, doctors, and public health researchers to conduct studies on emerging zoonotic and zoonoses diseases and the transmission of these diseases from animals to humans so that precautionary measures can be taken against these ailments and pandemics.
He remarked this while speaking as Chief Guest at an international webinar on “Impact of Covid-19 on Environment: Challenges and Opportunities” organised by the Women s University Bagh.
“We have never seen a crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic in human history which has engulfed the whole world and not just one country or the region,” the president said.

ISLAMABAD: From March 1, users of single-use polythene bags at any level in the federal capital would be fined, the Ministry of Climate Change warned on Friday.
“Anyone found using selling or manufacturing them will face a fine,” said Joint Secretary Syed Mujtaba Hussain of the ministry, who is leading the implementation of the ban on polythene bags.
Speaking at a public awareness rally attended by students and academia at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), he said from next month there would be a strict check on the use, sale and manufacturing of the single-use plastic bags.
2020 saw major judgments from superior courts in Sindh

Although the Covid-19 pandemic affected the working of the civil and criminal courts in Sindh during 2020, the judiciary managed to dispose of around 24,807 cases at the Sindh High Court (SHC) and 258,906 cases in the district courts during the year.
The backlog of pending cases, the number of which was 83,944 in the SHC and 93,960 in the district judiciary at the start of 2020, could not be reduced significantly at the end of the year due to the Covid-19 pandemic as at the end of November, the balance of cases remained at 81,180 cases in the SHC and 113 894 cases in the district judiciary.
Sindh win QT 2nd XI title with draw against Balochistan

KARACHI: Sindh on Saturday won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (2nd XI) when they finished at the top of the points table after holding Balochistan to a draw in their tenth and final round three-day outing here at the KCCA Stadium.
Sindh ended up at the summit with 48 points in the six-team affair, played on double league system. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who ended the tournament as runners-up, defeated Northern by two wickets.
Defending champions Southern Punjab, who finished fourth, played out a drawn game against Central Punjab.
Here at KCCA Stadium the clash between Sindh and Balochistan ended in a stalemate.
