No hitter in baseball has been hotter than Giancarlo Stanton lately. The Yankees’ DH was previously in the midst of an awful start to the 2021 season, batting just .158/.238/.333 as the Yankees began a road trip in Cleveland on April 22nd. He’d gone deep three times, but those homers made up a third of his total hits he was 9-for-57 with 21 strikeouts.
After a day out of the lineup though, Stanton returned on April 23rd with a pair of long homers as part of a 5-4 victory. That kicked off a hitting streak that has now reached 12 consecutive games contests in which he’s hit a remarkable .481/.509/.904. In just a couple weeks, he’s increased his triple slash to .312/.364/.606 and grabbed the team lead in homers with nine (and one off the American League lead).

A torrent of anti-transgender bills has been sweeping through state legislatures this year, and U.S. corporations finally seem to be pushing back. Rather than simply issuing individual statements affirming their support for LGBTQ rights, more than 400 U.S. businesses have joined together in the largest coalition of its kind in the U.S., and they have pledged to put their muscle behind the federal Equality Act.

It is no coincidence that a record number of businesses have organized in support of federal LGBTQ protections this year. The Equality Act has been introduced in previous legislative sessions, but the events of 2021 have made its passage more urgent than ever before.
