AgritourZA Limpopo Innovation Platform will push these teams of talented innovators, researchers, technologists, entrepreneurs and designers to form a sustainable, tech-centred agriculture and tourism ecosystem in Limpopo, South Africa.
Top-performing participants will become finalists in the
AgriTourZA Startup Accelerator Programme and have the opportunity to see their visions become real-world solutions that benefit their communities.
Four of the twenty finalists will then be selected to receive early-stage capital and support in the amount of R125 000 each. They will also be equipped with the technical, business and soft skills to see their ideas manifest from mind to market while also receiving close mentoring from mLab to further develop, realise and implement their solutions.

IBC has issued a call for entries for its IBC2021 Innovation Awards. This year’s awards program will focus on innovations underpinned by collaboration within the content and technology industry. The call for entries will close on June 2, and winners will be announced on Sept. 12 at IBC2021 that is scheduled for Sept. 10-13 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

NAIROBI, KENYA: The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and E4Impact Foundation (E4Impact) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support Kenyan financial technology (fintech) start-ups and enterprises.
This will be through access to customised capacity building, linkages to investors, markets and ecosystem partners in Kenya, Africa and globally.
The MoU builds on the partnership between CBK and E4Impact during Virtual Africa Hackathon organised by CBK in August 2020.
The hackathon focused on solutions to support Africa’s post Covid-19 recovery. CBK has continued to work with fintechs and start-ups that participated in the hackathon as they crystallise their ideas.
Glasgow City Council is funding a scheme to encourage natured-based business schemes A pilot project in Glasgow will see nature-based businesses and organisations receive council support. The scheme will be applicable for a wide range of activities including beekeeping, carbon offsetting, ‘green’ roofs, community growing schemes or tree planting enterprises. The Nature-Based Accelerator Programme is now open to applications and is a three-month fully-funded scheme - worth more than £1500 to each successful applicant. A World Economic Forum report suggested that actions to take nature-based solutions into account could create $10 trillion annually in business opportunities. According to the council the programme aims to encourage a more resilient local nature-based economy while improving and maintaining the city’s open spaces.
