Webster Parish Sheriff s Deputy William Billy Earl Collins Jr. was laid to rest today (7/16/21) after being fatally shot in the line of duty last Friday, July 9th while responding to a domestic disturbance while working as a reserve officer for the Village of Doyline.
It was sad, yet beautiful to see so many lined up to honor Deputy Collins last night during the Sea of Blue processional by area law enforcement following his visitation at First Baptist Bossier. Today, even more residents came out and lined the route between the church and Hillcrest Memorial Park and Cemetary on Highway 80 in Haughton to pay their respects.

Missing Bossier City teen possibly in Longview area

LONGVIEW, Texas A missing Bossier City teen may be in the Longview area.
According to the Longview Police Department, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office has received reports that 17-year-old Cole Rodriguez has been seen walking in Longview possibly in the Longview Heights area.
Rodriguez went missing sometime on July 3 and was reported to have sent a text to his father on July 4 saying he was leaving the state.

Former Bossier Parish Sheriff s Deputy Corporal Travis Buckmaster was behind bars today after surrendering himself at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility in Plain Dealing on charges of Malfeasance in Office and Simple Battery.
Buckmaster surrendered himself today related to charges for an incident reported on June 15, 2021. That report said that Corporal Buckmaster had committed battery on an inmate at Bossier Max. Buckmaster was then put on administrative leave while there was an investigation into the incident. During the time Buckmaster was out on leave, he resigned from the Bossier Parish Sheriff s Office.
After investigating, BPSO detectives issued a warrant for Buckmaster s arrest. At the time he surrendered today, he was booked on those charges and then released on bond.
Update on Funeral Services for Fallen Webster Parish Deputy
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from
5:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. at the First Bossier Church in Bossier City. After the visitation that evening, there will be a “Sea of Blue.” Law enforcement vehicles will travel from the church east on LA Highway 80 to Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery with emergency lights flashing as an expression of respect and honor for the fallen Deputy.
On Friday, funeral services will begin at
11:00 a.m. at First Bossier Church and will be open to the public. Following the church service, the funeral procession will leave the church and travel to Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery for the graveside service. Law enforcement agencies from across the region and out of state are expected to be in attendance. Traffic will be delayed on LA Highway 80 from First Bossier Church to Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery during the funeral procession.
