Some more coaching news for the Chargers has come down the pipe and I couldn’t more excited about this latest report.
According to SEC reporter Matt Zenitz of AL.com, the Chargers are reportedly hiring University of Iowa running backs coach Derrick Foster to Brandon Staley’s staff in Los Angeles.
Foster has been with the Hawkeyes since the 2018 season. Prior to joining Iowa, he was the running backs coach and run0game coordinator for Samford Univeristy.
This past season, Foster helped develop true sophomore Tyler Goodson into a First-Team All-Big Ten performer. After a freshman season where he rushed for 638 yards and five touchdowns in a three-man rotation, Goodson led the Hawks with 762 rushing yards (5.3 YPC) and seven touchdowns during their abbreviated eight-game schedule. The former Georgia High School Player of the Year also added 152 receiving yards on 15 catches.

Tommy Nappier, a senior goalie on the Ohio State men’s hockey team, is among the standouts on the watch list for the 2021 Mike Richter Award.
The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced the 35 players who comprise the watch list and will compete for the Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goalie in men’s NCAA Division I hockey since 2014.
A committee of voters made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media will pare this list down to approximately 15 names within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
Life s a beach for Nicole Branagh
By Jon Kingdon
Nicole Branagh at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China Photo provided Lamorinda has been blessed with many great student-athletes. There have been multi-sport athletes that have lettered in three sports. The number drops precipitously when you restrict the list to the people who have been recruited by various colleges to play any or all three sports. Nicole Branagh, who grew up in Orinda and graduated in 1997 from Miramonte High School, is one such individual. Starting out, like most in Lamorinda, as a swimmer, Branagh also played softball and soccer. Entering high school, she played basketball, volleyball and did the high jump, triple jump, and long jump for the track team. Branagh was the league MVP in volleyball and basketball and still holds school records in the high jump and triple jump all of which ultimately led her to be inducted into the first Hall of Fame class at Miramonte in 2017.
