Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity receives $1,000 grant

CHEBOYGAN Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity recently received a little extra help for its home repair program through a $1,000 grant from the First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation.
Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity was one of the legacy foundation s first quarter grant recipients, with the $1,000 to be used to help fund its home repair program that serves low income Cheboygan County homeowners.
First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation Board of Directors Chairman Mike Mahler recently presented Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Mandy Martin with the grant funding of $1,000. First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to serving community activities and nonprofit organizations in the Greater Alanson, Cheboygan, Gaylord, Lewiston, Oscoda, Mio, and Alpena areas.

ALPENA First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation recently presented a $1,500 check to Friends Together as one of their first quarter grant recipients. The $1,500 will be used to purchase “Road to Wellness” patient planners to help newly diagnosed individuals navigate their cancer care.

ALPENA First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation recently presented a $1,000 check to Sunrise Community Food Pantry as one of their first quarter grant recipients. The $1,000 will be used to replenish the food pantry’s food inventory so that they can continue to provide for families in need.
Sunrise Community Food Pantry operates out of Hubbard Lake Bible Church. They distribute food to families in Alpena, Alcona, and Montmorency counties with household income below government established poverty thresholds. From October 2020 to December 2020, they provided food to an average of 93 families and 192 individuals. Their food distributions are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
