A Woodstock long-distance runner is planning to run nearly three-and-a-half marathons on Saturday in honour of her grandfather while raising money for the local Alzheimer’s Society.
Amanda Nelson of Woodstock is planning to run 142 kilometres – or 88 miles – Saturday in honour of her grandfather, Jim Haas. It’s one mile for each year of his life.

“As I reflect on the difficulties that we have all faced, I cannot imagine someone like my grandfather who has had to deal with all the COVID-19 restrictions while struggling with Alzheimer’s disease,” Nelson said.
