JavaScript for Data Science

JavaScript for Data Science Version 4.0 / January 2020 — Maya — Greg All royalties from the sale of this book are being donated to R-Ladies, a worldwide organization whose mission is to promote gender diversity in the R community. Introduction versus Data Science” would be a better title for this book. While that one word sums up how many people view the language, we hope we can convince you that modern JavaScript is usable as well as useful. Scientists and engineers are who we were thinking of when we wrote this book but we hope that these lessons will also help librarians, digital humanists, and everyone else who uses computing in their research.

Sign of the primes: Linux Foundation serves up free code-signing service

Cryptographic software assurance backed by Google, Red Hat, Purdue U Share Copy The Linux Foundation, with the support of Google, Red Hat, and Purdue University, is launching a service called sigstore to help developers sign the code they release. Signing code involves associating a cryptographic signature with a specific digital artifact – release files, container images, and binaries – so that the person using the software can check the code's signature to verify that the release is authentic and hasn't been altered by someone along the way. "Sigstore enables all open source communities to sign their software and combines provenance, integrity and discoverability to create a transparent and auditable software supply chain," said Luke Hinds, security engineering lead in Red Hat's office of the CTO, in a statement.

How To Build A Node.js API For Ethereum Blockchain — Smashing Magazine

In this article, John Agbanusi explains how you can build a Node.js API from scratch by building and deploying an Ethereum Blockchain for decentralization. He also shows you a step-by-step process of integrating both the API and blockchain into a single API called a “decentralized application API”. Blockchain technology has been on the rise in the past ten years, and has brought a good number of products and platforms to life such as Chainalysis (finance tech), Burstiq (health-tech), Filament (IoT), Opus (music streaming) and Ocular (cybersecurity). From these examples, we can see that blockchain cuts across many products and use cases — making it very essential and useful. In fintech (finance tech), it’s used as decentralized ledgers for security and transparency in places like Chain, Chainalysis, and is also useful in health tech for the security of sensitive health data in Burstiq and Robomed — not to forget media tech such as Opus and Audius that also use blockchain for royalties transparency and thus get full royalties.
