Loudoun Now
Loudoun County will switch to using the Virginia Department of Health’s statewide COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration system at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, following direction from the state that came earlier that day.
In launching the new statewide system, the Virginia Department of Health directed all local health districts to close their pre-registration forms and surveys at 5 p.m. Friday to allow for existing registration data to be transferred to the new system. Loudoun County residents will not be able to register for COVID-19 vaccine for a few days.
People who already submitted a pre-screening survey through the Loudoun County Health Department need not worry: those surveys will be automatically added to the new statewide system. There is no need for those people to complete a new survey when the state system goes live next week, according to the county.
Vaccination: How To Get the COVID-19 Vaccine
Posted by Staff | Jan 27, 2021 | News | |
When can I get a COVID-19 vaccine?
The vaccine is currently available for the following groups:
1a: Healthcare Workers and Long-Term Care Residents
1b: Frontline Essential Workers, Persons Aged 65 years and Older, People Living in Correctional Facilities, Homeless Shelters and Migrant Labor Camps, and Persons Aged 16-64 years with a high-risk medical condition or disability that increases their risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
Vaccine supply is limited. It will take time to vaccinate people included in Phase 1b. Local health districts across Virginia are working as quickly as possible to vaccinate people eligible for Phases 1a and 1b.
Seniors living in two of Fellowship Square’s housing communities have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The first dose of the vaccine was distributed on Jan. 18 at Lake Anne Fellowship House in Reston. Another dose was administered at Lake Ridge Fellowship House in Woodbridge on Jan. 19. The vaccine will be provided for residents at Hunters Woods Fellowship House in Reston in February.
The move falls in line with the Virginia Department of Health’s Phase 1b for distribution of the vaccine: “Vaccinate Frontline Essential Workers, People Aged 65 years and Older, People Living in Correctional Facilities, Homeless Shelters and Migrant Labor Camps, and People aged 16 through 64 years with a High Risk Medical Condition or Disability that Increases Their Risk of Severe Illness from COVID-19.”
