Earlier this year, Brittany was working a part time job and as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Treasure Valley she was getting fewer and fewer hours. As a single mom of three, she wasn t making ends meet and ended up leaving that job. While searching for a new job, she and her kids all ended up getting sick with the coronavirus.
Things started to turn around for Brittany when she landed a full time job that keeps her pretty busy. While things are looking up, she know that the majority of the money she s making has to to toward things like rent, car payments and daycare. At this point, she didn t even have the extra cash to buy her boys winter clothing. It s put her in a position where she had to tell her boys to not expect gifts from Santa this year and that there might be a lot of coal coming their way instead.

You ll be hard pressed to find a grandma more proud of their grandchild than Ory. Adelicia was her first grandchild and she s so proud of the woman she grew up to be. She started working right after High School and was never out of work until the pandemic hit. Adelicia was laid off from her job and it was terrible timing.
While enjoying a day at Jump Creek, she slipped and broke her ankle. The break was bad enough that it required surgery. She was using a COBRA plan to pay for physical therapy since she no longer had insurance through work. When the plan ran out, she had to stop therapy and just recently started walking without a brace.

Karl wrote to us about his friendship with Laura s family. He met Laura s husband Mike through doing karate and the two men clicked right away. Not only were they in to martial arts, both of them were military veterans navigating the waters of PTSD. Mike also ended up going through chemo and beating cancer.

The last 14 months have been incredibly difficult for Sabrina and her family. Last October, they lost her older brother unexpectedly. It was heartbreaking through their first Christmas without him last year and this year is going to be even harder, especially for her mom Vicki.

Vicki s oldest son was an ICU nurse at St. Luke s Downtown and with everything happening due to the pandemic, he s constantly on her mind and on her heart. She hasn t really had time to work through the grieving process completely because she works so hard taking care of the kids she still has at home, including a few special needs children and two toddlers.
