Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 17 (ANI): Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts are on orange alert while Raigad district has been put on red alert due to Cyclone Tauktae, informed the Chief Minister Office (CMO) Maharashtra on Monday.
Chief MinisterUddhav Thackeray is closely monitoring the cyclone situation in the state. As many as 12,420 citizens were relocated to safer places from the coastal areas so far. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has issued an order stating that the operations at the airport shall remain closed from 11 am to 2 pm today in view of Cyclone Tauktae.

Cyclone Tauktae: 3 deaths reported in state; Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to hold meeting with SDMA
Cyclone Tauktae hit Mumbai with full fury bringing heavy rains, strong gales of over 60-75 km/hr, which wreaked havoc by uprooting scores of trees, damaged some homes, and disrupted road traffic, though there are no human casualties in the city.
However, in the state, as of now 3 deaths have been reported. In Jalgaon in north Maharashtra, two people died and another was injured after a tree fell on a hut. The third death is reported from Uran in the Raigad district, where a woman was killed and another one was seriously injured when a wall of the Ram temple collapsed.

This comes two days after Prime Minister Modi had reviewed the preparedness to deal with the cyclone s fallout in a high-level meeting which was attended by several ministries and agencies concerned.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister Office (CMO) Maharashtra informed that Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts are on orange alert while Raigad district has been put on red alert due to Cyclone Tauktae.
