MMRDA yet to hire agency to carry out Metro One’s performance review ANI File Photo The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority(MMRDA) is still unable to find an agency for Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd. that runs between Ghatkopar and Versova. This agency will provide financial quotes and market value of metro line one and carry out performance reviews before the acquisition. Recently, the authority extended the extension of tender issued by another 15 days for hiring a consultant who will provide these services. The earlier issued tenders also received a similar dull response. The Mumbai Metro one which started commercial operations in 2014 is looking to sell its equity and according to sources, it has already submitted a proposal to the state urban development department. Following this, the MMRDA has given its due consideration to its proposal.

The state government, under section 37 (1) of the Maharashtra Town Planning Act, has already received suggestions and objections and has said these are under scrutiny. The government will shortly issue a notification on the reservation of this land. A senior official from the urban development department told The Free Press Journal, “After 102 acres are reserved for the metro carshed, the state government will take a call on whether it is to be used for Metro 3 Colaba-SEEPZ or for Metros 4, 6 and 14. MMRDA gears up with Metro 5 civil work ANI The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has geared up the Metro Line 5(Thane – Bhiwandi - Kalyan) civil construction work. According to the officials, so far 1,233 piles, 218 pile caps, 22 nos. open foundations, 141 piers at the site and 45 precast pier caps, 15 U-Girders at casting yard work have been completed of this metro line. The contractor M/s Afcons Infrastructure limited, recently launched the first pier cap of around 60 metric tons on top of pier No. 38 which is located near Balkum of Thane. 24.90 km elevated corridor with 15 stations has been planned and out of this 12.70 kms elevated viaduct with 6 stations from Kapurbawadi to Bhiwandi, started on September 2019. These trains are being manufactured at BEML Bengaluru Complex.   Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Friday unveiled the state-of-the-art driverless metro car at a function held at BEML’s Bangalore complex. Sasidharan of security services firm TOPSGRUP was on Thursday denied bail by a special court in connection with a money laundering case in which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recently summoned Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik for questioning. Last week, the special court designated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) had denied bail in the same case to Sarnaik’s close associate Amit Chandole too, who was the first to be arrested in it. Appearing for 70-year-old Sasidharan, advocate Sujit Shelar had argued that the contract with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has existed since 2014 and that Sasidharan was at the position of the director only since 2018-’19.
