Maharashtra fit case for Presidentâs Rule, says state BJP chief

Hours after the Supreme Court upheld the Bombay High Court order on a preliminary probe by CBI into the corruption charges levelled against former home minister Anil Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, the state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil on Thursday claimed two more state ministers will have to resign in 15 days and that the state was a fit case for President s rule . However, he clarified that BJP was not making any demand for the same.
His statement came a day after suspended cop Sachin Vaze in a letter claimed former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had demanded â¹ 2 crore from him to continue his service in the Mumbai police and another minister Anil Parab asked him to collect money from contractors.

NIA had Waze in its custody for about a month, and asked the court to send him to judicial custody.

A special NIA court on Friday sent suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze to judicial custody till April 23. Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with an explosive laden SUV that was found outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani s house and death of Mansukh Hiren, who owned the SUV.

If Uddhav Thackeray now thinks shifting the blame to the Centre is going to help him politically deflect the charge of allowing Covid to re-emerge, he is wrong.
It is time he stopped playing politics and started governing.
The Maharashtra government has needlessly aggravated Centre-state tensions by publicly flagging the possibility of vaccine shortages and demanding that all people above the age of 25 be eligible for vaccines. These are mutually contradictory demands, for no shortage is going to be relieved by expanding the eligible age groups by several multiples right away.
