Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is the first municipal corporation in world to invite global tender for vaccines.
The BMC yesterday on May 12 issued global bid today to acquire 1 crore COVID-19 vaccines to vaccinate the citizens of Mumbai at the earliest possible on a massive scale in its decisive fight against the pandemic outbreak.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 1 (ANI): As India began its COVID-19 vaccination drive for those in the 18-44 age bracket on Saturday morning, Mumbai MayorKishori Pednekar said that vaccine will be given to people between 18 to 44 years of age in the city only after they have registered and received a message from the vaccination centre to get themselves vaccinated. People who have registered on CoWIN app and received a message can go to vaccination centres. Do not go to centres until and unless you receive a message. If you have registered but have not received a message, do not go to the centre, Pednekar told the media personnel.

Mumbai city continues to report new cases below 6,000 for the fourth day in a row.
On Tuesday, the city reported 4,014 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the city to 6,35,541.
However, the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (
BMC) informed that 59 people also succumbed to the deadly virus. The overall death toll in the city has reached 12,912.
Among those dead, 34 patients had co-morbidities and 32 were above the age of 60.
On a positive note, 8,240 patients were discharged from hospitals post-recovery. The total number of patients cured/discharged so far stands at 5,55,101.
