As the battle against the COVID-19 continues, Maharashtra government is all set to innoculate all beneficiaries above the age of 18 years from May 1 onwards. Although the state has sent separate letters to Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech International for getting sufficient quantities of vaccinations, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has a question - will Mumbai get adequate vaccine supply?
COVID-19 in Mumbai: BMC mulls over mobile vans for vaccination at various places

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Sunday said that although BMC is not planning to conduct door-to-door vaccination, it is planning to place a few mobile vans for vaccination at various places in Mumbai.
She was speaking to the media about the current situation in Mumbai.
Pednekar also informed that the registration for vaccination will be done via the Co-Win app only.
Talking about the stock of vaccines and Remdesivir, Pednekar said, We have enough doses of Covaxin in our hospitals. We expect delivery of more doses of Covishield in a day or two. Today we have a good stock of Remdesivir.
Maharashtra to give COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens for free: Nawab Malik

Malik said that the move was discussed in the state cabinet. In the last cabinet, we had discussed that mass vaccination should be there in the state of Maharashtra and free vaccination should be there and yesterday Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has said that we will vaccinate the entire population of the state above 18 years of age in free of cost.
The Minister further said that the global tenders will be invited for the vaccinations. Definitely, he (Pawar) said the best and cheap medicine which will be provided to us globally we will purchase from them, a global tender will be there in the state of Maharashtra. The process has been started and we are trying our best to procure as earlier as possible to start the mass vaccination in the state.

Mumbai: Vaccination drive to resume today as BMC gets 1.5L vax jabs
Only 23,419 registered beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours in city on Sunday
After a week facing a major shortage of Covid vaccines, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday received 1.5 lakh doses of Covid vaccine which will be distributed to the vaccine centres. The vaccination drive will be functional from Monday. However only 23,419 registered beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours, of which 1,957 were administered with Covaxin.
Earlier this month, 75 of the 120 vaccination centres across Mumbai, including a jumbo Covid-19 facility in business district BKC, had suspended inoculation due to a shortage of doses. We have received a stock of 1.5 lakh Covishield vaccines today. All the vaccination centres in Mumbai shall be functional tomorrow, BMC commissioner I S Chahal said.
