Leeton Shire Council At its May Extraordinary Council meeting, Council awarded a Quick Response Grant to the value of $500 to the Murrumbidgee Police District to assist with the provision of childcare services required for the delivery of the Leeton Indigenous Mentoring Program. Council’s Quick Response grants are provided for the purpose of supporting activities that arise unexpectedly, with limited notice, outside the window of the twice-yearly Community Grants Scheme. The Murrumbidgee Police District has facilitated the program which will train up a group of Indigenous Community leaders to work with local families and local police to reduce the incidence and impacts of domestic violence and youth offending.

Date Time Police charge five after investigations into drug supply and firearms offences – Riverina region The Murrumbidgee Police District officers have charged three men and two women over alleged drug supply and firearms-related offences in the state’s Riverina. Investigations began earlier this year following a ram raid at Leeton Soldiers Club on Thursday 28 January 2021. The incident caused an estimated $1 billion damage to the premises. As part of subsequent inquiries, Strike Force Irribin was established to investigate the alleged supply methylamphetamine in the Leeton and Whitton areas. Following extensive investigations, Leeton Police and the Proactive Crime Team – with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad – executed two search warrants at homes in Whitton and Yanco yesterday (Thursday 6 May 2021).
