Legislator Piccirillo s Legislation to Reduce Suffolk County Parks Green Key Card for Healthcare Workers Passes Legislature with Unanimous Vote

Photo by: Shutterstock Recently, the Suffolk County Legislature unanimously passed Legislation aimed to thank Healthcare workers for all they have done for the residents of Suffolk County throughout the pandemic. IR 1174 Introduced by Freshman Legislator Anthony Piccirillo of Holtsville, and co-sponsored by more than five Legislators reduces the Green Key card rate for Suffolk County parks and beaches for Healthcare workers who reside in Suffolk County. The Legislation reduces the Green Key rate by 50% for those who are Healthcare workers. “Healthcare workers in Suffolk County have gone above and beyond over this past year putting their health and mental well being on the line for our residents, this is just a small gesture to say thank you” said Legislator Piccirillo.

Suozzi, Gillibrand Introduce Legislation to Ensure Long Islanders are not Taxed on Grants Received to Upgrade their Septic Systems

Photo by: Chris Boyle U.S. Representative Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island, Queens) and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) announced the introduction of a bill that would reverse a 2020 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) ruling that Suffolk County residents must pay taxes on county grants used to upgrade their septic tanks. The lawmakers are pushing to include this legislation in the next infrastructure package. Last Congress, Suozzi introduced similar legislation on this issue. “Much-needed improvements of Long Island’s septic tanks should not be paid for by hardworking middle-class families of Long Island. We already know our families pay enough in taxes as it is,” said Congressman Suozzi. “Thank you to Senator Gillibrand for working alongside me on this very real problem for our constituents. Together, we will ensure Long Islanders are not forced to pay taxes on basic environmental clean-up.”
