Peshawar cops to be trained about dealing with juveniles, females, transgender persons

PESHAWAR: The cops in the provincial capital would be imparted training about dealing with juvenile, female and transgender victims as well as offenders to avoid untoward incidents that occurred recently, officials said on Saturday.
The Capital City Police recently set up Special Juvenile Units to keep a check on the lock-ups and facilitate the juvenile victims and offenders.
There were a number of incidents in recent years in Peshawar and rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which women, children and transgender persons complained of being tortured, humiliated and deprived of their due rights by the police in the aftermath of any incident.

JAMMU, Apr 3: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohan Lal Bhagat along with SDM Akhnoor Gopal Singh, SDPO Varun Jandial, and SHO Ravi Singh Parihar inaugurated 1st Gold Badminton Championship on the theme âKhelo Akhnoor to beat drug menceâ at Indoor Stadium Akhnoor, here today.
The tournament is being organised by GS Sports Club under the supervision of Atul Sudan, president of the Club.
Speaking on the occasion, the SDPO Varun Jandial congratulated the organizing committee for organizing the event. âIt was a good sign that the youth of the areas are moving towards positive direction by organising such event,â he added.

A judge of a Swat anti-terrorism court (ATC) was among four persons shot dead in an attack on his car near the Ambar Interchange in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday.
The victims, identified as ATC Judge Aftab Afridi, his wife, grandson and daughter-in-law, were travelling from Peshawar to Islamabad via Swabi, according to police. Two security guards, who were part of the judge s convoy were also injured in the attack, which occurred in the jurisdiction of Chota Lahore Police Station.
