809 ventilators given to districts, Punjab Chief Secretary

CHANDIGARH: Taking another step towards facilitating the critical Covid patients gasping for life and in order to further ramp up the health facilities to conquer the devastating second virus surge, the Punjab Government has provided 809 more ventilators to the districts in the state.
This was disclosed by the Chief Secretary, Ms Vini Mahajan, after chairing a high-level meeting to review the current Covid situation and vaccination status in the state, here on Sunday.
She directed all the Deputy Commissioners to install the new ventilators today itself and ensure that not even a single oxygen concentrator and ventilator remain unutilised. She also ordered to impose work from home for private offices so that the chain of Covid transmission could be arrested.

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 25 (ANI): In order to ensure adequate supply of medical oxygen to the needy critical patients on life support, the Punjab government has provided 147 oxygen concentrators to the worst-hit districts in the Malwa region of the state, which were reporting the maximum daily COVID-19 cases and highest positivity rate.
According to an official statement, this decision was disclosed by Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, while chairing a high-level meeting to review the current Covid situation besides supply and demand of medical oxygen in the state, here on Saturday evening.
MHA invokes Disaster Management Act to ensure unobstructed inter-state movement of medical oxygen
The MHA, invoking powers under the Disaster Management Act, has directed states to ensure that the inter-state supply of medical oxygen is not obstructed for any reason whatsoever. Officials in violation of the order will be held liable.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in an order issued on Thursday lifted all restrictions imposed on the movement of medical oxygen between states. According to the MHA order, transport authorities shall be instructed to accordingly allow free inter-state movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles.

Centre invoked the Disaster Management Act on Thursday making the district magistrates and senior superintendent of police personally liable to ensure unhindered inter-State movement of vehicles carrying medical oxygen and not restrict the supply to a particular State where the oxygen plant is located.
The order comes hours after Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia alleged that the governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were blocking the supply of oxygen to Delhi. Delhi procures medical oxygen from neighbouring districts in these States.
