“It’s important for all of us as we get older to still have a sense of purpose, to contribute to our greater society. It’s really intended to provide those kinds of opportunities for older folks,” said ADRC Manager Joel Gottsacker.
ADRC is specifically looking for people 55-plus who want to volunteer through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program or RSVP.
It’s part of the SeniorCorps branch of AmeriCorps.
“None of these positions require any specific skill sets other than having a drivers license and auto insurance,” said Gottsacker. “If there’s somebody out there that has some specific skills that they would like to volunteer using those skills we’d be happy to look for opportunities for them to use their skills. Even if we have to develop the volunteer opportunity.”
