All was serene and calm absolutely on that fateful day. No one could fathom or imagine that Boko Haram Insurgents would on the 14th of April 2014, attack the Government Girls Secondary School, in Chibok, a sleepy Christian community in Borno State and cart away over two hundred female students who were preparing for the Senior School Certificate Examinations as prisoners of war and merchandise.
Gentle men of the press had reported that the abducted girls were in their teens and were in the last lap of their secondary educational pursuit. But sadly, the tragedy that struck on that day wouldn t allow them conclude the race to be awarded a high school certificate which was a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions.

Central Bureau of Secondary Examination has admitted to a huge error in marks totalling in class 12 board examination 2017. According to a report, an unprecedented number of students have applied for verification following sharp discripencies between marks in one subject as compared to their average.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) internals with a total 1,221,447 candidates who registered for the examination. Addressing Journalists at the Council’s Headquarters yesterday in Minna, the Registrar/CEO, Prof. Godwin Obioma said out of the 1,209,992 candidates that sat for the examination 894,101 made five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language. Prof. Obioma said out of the candidates that registered for the examination a total of 665,830 were males and 555,617 females. He revealed that the candidates who made five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics is 894,101 representing 73.89% when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 829,787 with an increase of 2.3%.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has said that about 894,101 candidates made five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics representing 73.89 per cent in the June/ July 2020 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
The registrar/ chief executive of the council, Professor Godswill Obioma stated this in a press conference on the release of 2020 Senior School Certification Examinations( SSCE) Internal results at the board room of the organisation at its headquarters on Wednesday in Minna, Niger State capital, adding that when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 829,787 there was an increase of 23 per cent.
He added that the number of candidates who made five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics was 1,112,041, representing 91.91 per cent, stressing that when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 1,042,989, that there was an increase of 2.01per cent.
