Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, March 4 : From online shopping to e-learning, the number of users online increased multi-fold in India and a new report revealed on Thursday that 45 per cent of online users in the country were attacked by local threats in 2020. Global cyber security firm Kaspersky detected and blocked over 13 crore internet-borne threats in 2020. This affected 35 per cent of the internet users in India, placing the country at the 43rd spot globally. According to the Kaspersky s latest report, it detected and blocked over 20 crore local threats on the consumer devices between January-December 2020.

Furthermore, 70 per cent of women in APAC also said that their skills and experience were considered to be more important than their gender during the interview process for their first IT or tech role.

Kaspersky researchers first became aware of this campaign when they were called in to assist with incident response, and they discovered that the organisation had fallen victim to a custom backdoor (a type of malware that allows complete remote control over the device). Dubbed ThreatNeedle, this backdoor moves laterally through infected networks and extracts confidential information. So far, organisations in more than a dozen countries have been affected.
