The Rockingham man who was being sought out by Southern Pines Police in connection with a shooting that occurred last week turned himself in to authorities.
A more than four-month long investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Pinebluff man on multiple sexual changes on Thursday, the Moore County Sheriff s Office reports.
When Jacob Armstrong was arrested last Thursday and went through the intake process at the Moore County Detention Center, he was asked multiple times if he had any foreign objects or substances that could cause harm to himself or any of the detention officers. He said no.
Then he went through a new step in the intake process: the Tek 84 Intercept Whole Body Security Scanning System.

The full-body scan revealed a concealed bag containing 88 dosage units of Alprazolam pills â the generic version of the anxiety medicine Xanax â that went undetected through a pat-down search.
Findings like that were the goal when the $149,000 unit was purchased to provide a more thorough, and less invasive, means to protect inmates and detention officers from smuggling contraband into the jail.
Pinehurst Police Department arrested Jason Kent Townley, 57, of Gingham Lane in Pinehurst, on Friday, May 14. He was charged with 12 counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
âOur department acted on a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to arrest Townley,â said Police Chief Glen Webb. âPinehurst Police continues to be vigilant and proactive to protect our residents.â
Townley was taken into custody without incident and is held in the Moore County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
