MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – A Moorhead man charged with vandalizing a Moorhead mosque made another court appearance Tuesday.
Twenty-two-year-old Benjamin Enderle is charged with aggravated harassment because of bias and criminal damage to property because of bias.
Enderle is accused of spray painting hate messages including “Death to Islam” and “Go to Hell” at the Moorhead Fargo Islamic Center.
According to court documents, Enderle admitted to police that he was responsible for the vandalism and said he “did it as a joke.”
Enderle’s next court appearance is June 3. His court-appointed attorney, Michael Minard, has not been available to comment.

FARGO Local activists are organizing a march early Saturday, May 8, to address the recent vandalism of a Moorhead mosque and to counter a White Lives Matter rally supposedly scheduled for that morning.
Phrases painted on the outside of the mosque included Death to Islam and women can t vote, along with racial slur across six windows. Nearly 400 members of the community removed the graffiti in less than 2 hours the Monday following the incident.

By Tuesday, May 4, GoFundMe accounts had raised a total of $65,691 to help with mosque renovations and to purchase additional security equipment. It is the month of Ramadan, and forgiveness is the message we learn from the day we step into this world. With that in mind, we . would like to let the gentleman who allegedly put graffiti and hate messages on our mosque know that we forgive him from the deepest of our hearts, said Sajid Ghauri, adviser for the Moorhead Fargo Islamic Center.
