The region hopes to get a big boost from major projects that include a 1.3-million square-foot Amazon distribution center under construction in Fargo, and a $2.75 billion flood diversion project designed to protect homes and businesses from the swelling Red River. Overseen by the St. Paul office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the diversion project is expected to generate thousands of jobs and offer long-term economic benefits on both sides of the river in the fast-growing region.
