LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – From kittens, to dogs, to even critters, the Capital Humane Society has hundreds of animals looking for their perfect home.
“From last year, I think we are, from May to today, we are about 60 more,” Shannon Martin-Roebuck, the Executive Director, said.
Almost every kennel at the shelter is filled with a furry friend. They put out a post on Facebook just a few days ago asking for help due to the fact they had over 300 animals in their care. From foster applications to a pile of donations outside their door, the community stepped up.

2 of the ‘suitcase kittens’ ready for adoption
The Capital Humane Society said the two kittens are getting fixed Thursday and should be available for adoption starting Friday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The two older suitcase kittens, Bea and Arthur, are ready to find their new home.
The Capital Humane Society (CHS) said the two kittens are getting fixed Thursday and should be available for adoption starting Friday.
Bea is brown and Arthur is orange. Both kittens are very playful and love to cuddle with their foster mom’s three cats, CHS said.
Arthur is very outgoing and into everything, he loves to drink from the bathroom faucet, officials with the shelter said. Bea is playful but more reserved and quite a bit smaller than Arthur, CHS said.

Capital Humane Society in need of donations
The shelter says they re running low on canned food and in need of your help to restock their supply.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Capital Humane Society needs your help. They’re in need of donations to get through what they call, ‘Kitten Season.’
“Items that we particularly need right now are cans of kitten food, cans of cat food and also cans of replacement milk,” Shannon Martin-Roebuck, the Executive Director of the Humane Society said.
As the shelter enters kitten season, they’ll have more babies who have been orphaned and they’ll need these items to live healthy and strong. Although they need extra help with kittens, they also need donations for other animals, too.
