83-year-old man, others injured in Deerfield Township crash Westaby, Robb and last updated 2021-04-23 20:20:33-04 DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A crash involving two vehicles occurred on the intersection of 5 Mile Road and 130th Avenue this evening, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office. We’re told a 23-year-old Stanwood woman was driving north on 130th Avenue in a blue 2019 Nissan when she didn’t yield to oncoming traffic. The sheriff’s office says that was when she was hit by a gray 2019 Dodge vehicle driving west on 5 Mile Road. Authorities say an 83-year-old Newaygo man and two passengers were taken to Spectrum Hospital in Big Rapids to be treated for minor injuries. The Nissan driver and her sole passenger were taken to the same hospital, also for minor injuries, the sheriff’s office tells us.

Police name suspects in multiple county breaking and entering, larcenies

BIG RAPIDS — A 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Evart face several felony offenses, including breaking and entering and larceny offenses, after leading police on a nearly 40-mile pursuit that went through three counties. Jordan Jeffery Dewitt and Christina Lynn Taylor are currently being held at the Mecosta County Jail for their connection with a long list of thefts during the past month, according to a release from the Mecosta County Sheriff s Office. Charges include three different counts of unlawful driving away of an automobile, a count of breaking and entering a building with intent, a count of larceny in a building, two counts of larceny of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, a count of home invasion and one count of larceny of firearms from five separate Mecosta County Sheriff s Office investigations.

BIG RAPIDS — A 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Evart face several felony offenses, including breaking and entering, after leading police on a chase through multiple counties Monday. At 9:46 a.m. on April 19, the Mecosta County Sheriff s Office was assisting the Newaygo County Sheriff s Office with locating suspects involved in a reported breaking and entering on Baseline and Thornapple in Newaygo County s Wilcox Township, according to police. The suspect vehicle eventually was located in Mecosta County and police said upon attempting a traffic stop of the vehicle on Mecosta County s 7 Mile Road near Elder the suspect vehicle fled police.

It happened about 4:45 p.m. at the store located at 14777 215 th Ave., according to a news release Monday. Store video shows the thief arrived in the same type of vehicle that he took the hubs from. Mecosta County Sheriff s Office Deputies say the thief stole the hubcaps from the victim’s vehicle as he was leaving the store.
