Officials: Mecklenburg County Detention Center Sergeant Stabbed By Inmate

WCCB Charlotte s CW May 3, 2021 CHARLOTTE, N.C. Authorities say a Mecklenburg County Detention Center sergeant was injured after he was stabbed by an inmate with a “homemade weapon,” according to a news release. Officials say the incident happened Sunday, May 2nd just after 8:30pm.  Sgt. G. Anthony was reported stabbed three times with a “homemade weapon” by 30-year-old Sherrod Davidson. Sherrod Davidson Sgt. Anthony was transported to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, according to a news release. “It deeply concerns me when the staff working in our detention centers encounter such acts of violence.  Our detention professional do a tremendous job of maintaining the safety of those detained and working inside our facilities.  Every day they are met with challenges and their courage and efforts often go unnoticed.  The MCSO Investigative Unit will thoroughly investigate the incident and expects to seek criminal charges ag

(WBTV) - A Mecklenburg County sergeant is recovering after he was attacked and stabbed by an inmate Sunday evening. The Sheriff’s Office says the sergeant was stabbed three times by a “homemade weapon” around 8:30 p.m. by inmate Sherrod Davidson at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center. The sergeant was taken to Presbyterian Hospital and is expected to recover. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office did not release any information on charges.

(WBTV) - An inmate is accused of attacking and injuring three detention officers and a sergeant at Mecklenburg County Detention Center. Officials say the incident involved 24-year old Dequan Timmons (PID# 469227), an inmate at the jail. On Tuesday, around 7:21 a.m., officials say a POD officer ordered inmate to lock down, but Timmons reportedly refused. The POD officer called for assistance so a sergeant and two other detention officers responded.
