Mecklenburg County Health Director Gibbie Harris announced the county just experienced the second pediatric death in the state of North Carolina since the start of the pandemic. Harris made the announcement during a virtual news conference Tuesday afternoon. Harris did not provide any additional information regarding that death. As of January 19th, there were 77,537 cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) with 697 deaths due to COVID-19 reported among Mecklenburg County residents.
Mecklenburg County Public Health announced that they will be opening additional appointments for the first three weeks of February for Groups 1 and 2 based on anticipated vaccine supply. Appointments will be available for scheduling beginning Jan. 21 at 8:30 a.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Starting Monday at Bojangles Coliseum, StarMed will help distribute second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Mecklenburg County says this partnership will help get vaccines out quicker.
Now, to get a second dose, you must have had your first dose through the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department.
