CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - No charges will be filed in a shooting that killed a 16-year-old in Charlotteâs South End over the summer.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the killing of Vontairius Doster has been classified by detectives as a justified homicide.
Doster was fatally shot on July 13 at the Southside Homes Apartment complex off Griffith Street.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call just before 2 a.m. at the apartment complex. Officers say Doster had already been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound when police arrived. Medical staff later pronounced Doster dead.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have classified this case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the case and concurred with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone in this case. Read below for more details on the shooting.
Update (9/7/20):
Charlotte police say the man that was found dead after a welfare check early Sunday morning in northwest Charlotte has been identified.
According to CMPD, the deceased victim in this case has been identified as 45-year-old Oldin Jacinto Diaz Lainez.
There is no update on the second victim in the case who reportedly has non-life threatening injures.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. One person is dead after a shooting in northeast Charlotte Sunday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said officers were conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Pavilion Boulevard and University City Boulevard around midnight when they heard several shots fired in the area.
The officers investigated the source of the shots and found a man with a gunshot wound in the 1700 block of Caroway Street. Officers immediately requested for Medic and began administering life-saving efforts to the victim.
