Among other provisions of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 signed into law Dec. 27 is the Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, which gives an additional $300 a week to people who qualify for state unemployment benefits, according to a New Mexico Department of Workplace Solutions news release. The federal benefits are scheduled to be in place until at least March 13. Unemployment claimants who qualify for at least $1 a week in state unemployment benefits as of Jan. 2. can receive the federal benefit.
