New Judges Appointed for 3rd Circuit | Alton Daily News

WBGZ Radio 2/1/2021 | By Mark Ellebracht - WBGZ Radio Two vacancies on the Third Judicial Circuit have been filled. Angela Donohoo of Bethalto and Ronald Motil of Maryville were recently approved by the Circuit Judges of the district as new associate judges serving Madison and Bond Counties. The vacancies were created upon the election of former Associate Judge Steve Stobbs to the circuit bench and the resignation of Associate Judge John Julian.  Donohoo has been practicing law for 18 years in her own practice, Levo-Donohoo, in Troy.  She is a past president of the Madison County Bar Association, is a board member of Hope Rescues and is a former president of the Board of the Metro East Humane Society.  Motil is a longtime attorney in the county and is also a past president of the Madison County Bar Association, as well as the Tri-City Bar Association. Donohoo and Motil Chief Judge William Mudge announced Friday that the circuit judges of the Third Judicial Circuit selected Angela P. Donohoo and Ronald S. Motil to fill two associate judge vacancies.  “Angela Donohoo and Ron Motil bring a great deal of experience and professionalism to our bench,” Mudge stated in a press release. “They are great additions to the Third Judicial Circuit, and join an outstanding group of men and women who impartially and fairly administer justice for the people of Madison and Bond Counties. My colleagues and I look forward to working with both of them.” Associate judges are picked by the circuit s elected judges. In the Third Judicial Circuit where there are nine elected circuit judge seats, applicants must receive at least five votes, otherwise balloting goes to a subsequent round. Currently there are only eight seated circuit judges due to the retirement of circuit judge Richard Tognarelli earlier this month.

Metro East Humane Society rescues 33 dogs from Arkansas Kayla Wheeler Replay Video The Metro East Humane Society transported 33 dogs from Arkansas this week. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Madison County Animal Control and other groups that MEHS typically pulls animals from have not been taking in as many dogs. So, MEHS began partnering with various animal rescues, like Amy’s Animal Rescue in Arkansas, that have a surplus of dogs in their area looking for rescue. Amy’s Animal Rescue pulls from area animal controls along with rescuing puppies that are dumped, which is a recurrent issue in Arkansas, according to a news release from MEHS.
