Authorities on Thursday sought public help to identify a man caught on video setting fire to two vehicles last month in the driveway of a Serra Mesa home.
The surveillance footage shows the arsonist dousing a 2001 Lexus IS 300 sedan and 2017 Toyota Tundra pickup with a liquid police believe it was gasoline and then using a lighter to set them ablaze.
The ensuing fire destroyed both vehicles, according to a news release.

It happened about 2:10 a.m. on Feb. 3 at a home on Arbor Heights Lane, a dead-end residential street off Glenstone Way south of Sorrento Valley Boulevard, according to police. After the man lit the vehicles on fire, he ran to a white four-door sedan parked across the street with the driver’s door open, facilitating a quick escape.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. Authorities Thursday released an artist s rendering in hopes of identifying a man whose body was found in a burning dumpster outside of a Scripps Ranch grocery store nearly four decades ago.
About 5 a.m. on Sept. 28, 1981, employees at Big Bear Super Market on Mira Mesa Bouelvard near Scripps Ranch Boulevard called 911 after smelling smoke coming from the back of the business, according to San Diego police.

An arsonist set fires that burned a picnic bench, a pop-up tent and some equipment at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery early Monday morning and police are investigating the blazes, officials said.
Two small fires were reported around 12:25 a.m. at the cemetery on 44th Street near C Street. There were no injuries.
“This was two small fires one was in a pop-up tent and picnic table and the other was some miscellaneous equipment next to a commercial building,” San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz said.
Metro Arson Strike Team investigators responded to the blaze and determine it was an arson and involved an outbuilding at the cemetery, said San Diego police Sgt. Rick Pechin. Investigators were checking if there was any video they could review.
