ROCKFORD For the third time in less than a month, human remains were discovered in the area.
The skeletal remains of an adult were found at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area near the intersection of Mill and Newburg roads, Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said.
“We’re working with the sheriff’s department and are trying to get answers as quickly as we can,” Hintz said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
Skeletal remains found March 20 in a wooded area in the 3600 block of Auburn Street have been identified as Wesley J. Shaver, 33, of Mendota.
The cause of Shaver’s death is pending further studies, Hintz said.
