MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Downtown Memphis Commission is likely to approve a gigantic new temporary sign on Mud Island across from the 10-foot letters that spell out âMemphis.â
A new 46-foot tall 40-foot wide sign made of vinyl mesh panels and scaffolding would read, âWe Have No Time for Things with No Soul.â The temporary signage would be installed by the Memphis River Parks Partnership by Memorial Day and would be removed near Thanksgiving.

We Have Soul. Located opposite the MEMPHIS sign, the new installation is visible from downtown and supported by a flag drift colored to match the brand (and park furniture) of Mud Island Park. The installation is just one of a series of upgrades and improvements designed to create a more beautiful, accessible and fun Mud Island Park for this summer season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - New speed bumps are finally installed on Riverside Drive, according to the Downtown Neighborhood Association.
After being shut down for months, the renovated area is reopening with efforts to slow down traffic and create a safer environment for pedestrians.
In April, the Memphis River Parks Partnership presented plans to drastically alter Riverside as part of the $60 million renovations to Tom Lee Park.
The design team behind the park gave an update this week highlighting several new features, including a water feature, hammocks and other additional seating areas along with two pavilions that will have concession stands. The team also talked about the children s play areas, which will include massive play structures shaped like river otters.
The update followed an announcement that the park had received $3.25 million in donations from AutoZone, First Horizon Foundation, Baptist Memorial Health Care, Campbell Clinic and Regional One Health, bringing the project to 80% of its funding goal.
Some of the park’s key features have been named after the big-ticket donors.
