WIU senior teaching Virtual Science Saturday episode April 3 Office of University Relations, Western Illinois University MACOMB The Western Illinois University Department of Physics will host episode seven of its Virtual Science Saturday, Exploring Microwave Ovens: The History and Science, from 10-11 a.m. April 3. This episode will be taught by senior chemistry major and history minor Jesse Caverly, of Canton, IL. It will include information about the history behind the invention of microwave ovens, how chemistry and physics are involved and some interesting demonstrations. The presentation is designed for students in grades K-12 and for the general public. Caverly said he chose the presentation topic because he thought it was something people wouldn t typically think about.

February 3, 2021 MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Department of Physics will host the fifth edition of its Virtual Science Saturday, Cloud Chambers: Exploring the Invisible World of Subatomic Charged Particles, from 11 a.m.-noon Feb. 6. This session will explore the challenges and rewards of exposing a hidden world all around us that is bustling with energy and activity.
