Sites suitable for building high volume low acuity elective care centres sought
Consultation process underway on Sláintecare elective ambulatory care
Submissions from owners of sites suitable for the construction of elective-only centres in the Cork, Dublin and Galway metropolitan areas are being sought by the Department of Health by 1pm on May 31, 2021.
The call for submissions extends to sites in Health Service Executive (HSE) or healthcare ownership, sites in other public sector ownership, as well as privately-owned sites.
The newly elective-ambulatory facilities in Galway, Cork and Dublin are to be expressly designed to deal with the high volume and low complexity procedures on the basis of day-patients and outpatients.

Stephen Donnelly said he remains concerned about AstraZeneca s ability to deliver vaccine supplies on schedule and at the agreed volumes
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said he remains concerned about AstraZeneca s ability to deliver vaccine supplies on schedule and at the agreed volumes.
It said that it had been assured that the shortfall will be recovered this month.
Speaking in the Dáil, Mr Donnelly said he has asked the High-Level Taskforce on Covid-19 Vaccination to examine the possibility of seeking extra vaccine supplies outside of the EU arrangement.
He said this would be done in parallel with the EU process, if it happens at all.
