He was too young to go to the high school prom at Warren High School back in 1944. But Pastor Dale Peterson, now of Lakota, was old enough to join the U.S. Navy and leave high school when the second World War broke out at that time.
Now 95, Peterson is a retired Lutheran pastor. He will be among those taking part in Memorial Day services set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Community Center in Lakota.

The UND University Band and the Vivo Chamber Choir will present “UND@theMovies!” in concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Chester Fritz Auditorium and via livestream. The concert is free.
The University Band is under the direction of James Popejoy and the Vivo choir is directed by Melanie Popejoy. Those who attend the concert are asked to wear masks and should sit socially distanced from others in the auditorium to comply with the university’s safety protocols.
The musicians will be wearing masks, using bell covers on their instruments, and social distancing on stage, James Popejoy said.
