Wyatt Ranches Foundation Donates $770K to Area Organizations in Need

Wyatt Ranches, on behalf of The Wyatt Ranches Foundation, donated $772,000 in grant funds to several South Texas organizations in need during their first 2021 Board of Directors Meeting.
San Diego ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodrigo Peña, accompanied by Trustees Belinda Vera, “Libby” Vela, and Carlos Espinosa, expressed the need for an improved gateway to the newly built athletic complex. Dr. Peña and the Trustees stated that bond-generated funds were insufficient to provide for the entrance; and, there is a safety concern where both vehicles and pedestrians use the same entrance. The new entrance would streamline guests’ entering and departing and also reduce the risk of an automobile-pedestrian accident. Man dies in auto-pedestrian accident

GEORGE WEST - Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a auto-pedestrian fatality crash that occurred on Friday, March 5 at approximately at 9:01 p.m. on Highway 37.
According to Sgt. Nathan Brandley, preliminary investigation revealed a Ford F-250 was traveling north on IH 37 and struck a pedestrian laying in the right lane.
Ricardo Garcia, 29, was dressed in black clothing and the driver did not see him laying in the roadway.
Garcia, a resident of George West, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. DPS Troopers are further investigating the crash.

Thirty-four-year-old Juan Quintanilla Jr. was arrested by Premont police on Thursday, March 4 following a shots fired call.
Around 10:34 p.m., Sgt. Robert Longoria and Officer Jesus Garza were dispatched to a business on the 900 block of South Broadway in reference to shots fired. During the investigation, it was found that Quintanilla discharged two shots from a handgun into the air, placing others in imminent danger of serious bodily injury, according to Premont Police Chief RIchard Nava.
Quintanilla was not on location when officers arrived and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
On Friday morning, Quintanilla turned himself in to the Premont police.
