Robstown cotton grower receives top award for high Stoneville yields Nueces Country Record Star Ben and Leslie Gwynn with Ben Gwynn Farms were again recognized for hard-earned yields as part of BASF’s Stoneville® Legacy Club™. For the fifth year, the Legacy Club celebrated cotton growers like the Gwynns who, despite unprecedented times, proved their ability to grow high-quality, high-yielding Stoneville cotton. Forty growers, including Ben Gwynn Farms, earned memberships to the Legacy Club and were honored for harvest yields in the top 10 percent of their states. Ben Gwynn Farms qualified in the dryland division, harvesting 1,474 pounds of Stoneville cotton per acre – which won the farm the top dryland yield for the Southwest region.

Robstown police make arrest in shooting of father, son

Nueces Country Record Star Robstown police arrested a man suspected in a double shooting over the weekend that injured a father and killed his son.  At about 6:41 p.m. Sunday, March 28 officers were dispatched to a home  in the 400 block of West Avenue G in reference to shots being fired there. When they arrived officers found 52-year-old James Rojas Sr. laying on the road with a gunshot wound to the chest area and his 28-year-old son James Rojas Jr. sitting in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle  dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a Robstown Police Department s news release.

Father, son identified as Sunday night s murder victims Nueces Country Record Star Robstown - The two men found dead at a home in Robstown Sunday evening were identified by police as 52-year-old James Rojas Sr. and his son, 28-year-old James Rojas Jr. On Sunday, March 28, at about 6:41 p.m. Robstown police were dispatched to the 400 block of West Avenue G in reference to shots being fired at that location. Upon arrival, officers found James Rojas Sr., laying on the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest area and James Rojas Jr., sitting in the passenger’s seat deceased with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head, according to Robstown police.

UMHB Honor Roll Announced for Fall 2020 Nueces Country Record Star The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor announced students who were have been listed on the Fall 2020 Provost’s Honor Roll. To receive this recognition, a student must achieve a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale. In conjunction with this, 678 students were named on the Dean’s Honor Roll for Fall 2020. To receive this recognition, a student must achieve a 3.5 – 3.849 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
