The Saints girls won their sixth of their last seven games thanks to a season-high 21 points from Haley Godfrey. Nine of Godfrey’s points came from behind the arc. The Saints came back from down 12 in the third quarter to force overtime. Melcher-Dallas also knocked down a season-high 15 free throws.
The Saints boys’ struggles continue, as they got down 14 after one quarter and 23 at halftime. Ryan Krpan led the way for Melcher-Dallas as he scored 11 points. The Saints had a hard time stopping Moravia star Carson Brown, who had 29 points. Melcher-Dallas drops to 2-6 on the season and will have a quick turnaround with the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.
The Saints boys got their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-4 on the season. Lane VanderLinden had a double-double, scoring 25 points and hauling down ten rebounds. Melcher-Dallas also got a combined 31 points from Steven and Ryan Krpan. The Saints jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead and never relinquished it.
Melcher-Dallas’ girls’ winning streak came to an end, dropping their record to 4-3 on the season. The Saints did get a double-double from Hailey Hoch as she had 13 points and ten rebounds. The Saints outrebounded Lamoni, but cold shooting and missed free throws were ultimately the difference in the loss.
