A Sydney man who s alleged to be an Islamic State recruit has been arrested and charged upon his return to Australia.
Mohamed Zuhbi, 30, arrived in Melbourne on a flight from Turkey about 4pm on Saturday and was arrested by counterterrorism authorities at the airport.
The man allegedly travelled from Sydney to Turkey in 2013 and then on to Syria, where he helped foreign fighters travel to the area.
He has been charged with six terrorism-related offences including supporting a terrorist organisation and engaging in hostile activity overseas.

A man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman after offering her a ride home from a night out in Melbourne.
Abdouslam Alsharif, 50, is charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on April 30.
He allegedly offered the 20-year-old woman, who thought she was getting a ride share, a free lift home after she left a licensed Collingwood venue early in the morning, police previously said.

Alsharif then allegedly drove the woman to a nearby area and assaulted her.

A man has been charged with raping a woman who got into his vehicle believing it was the ride-share she had ordered.
Abdouslam Alsharif is accused of sexually assaulting the 20-year-old woman after offering her a free ride home when she left a bar in Fitzroy early last Friday morning.
Police say Mr Alsharif picked up the woman near the intersection of Peel and Oxford streets, in Collingwood, about 2.25am and then drove to Rowe Street, Fitzroy, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

A 45-year-old Kew man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a toilet block in Melbourne’s north-east last week.
The alleged assault occurred in a toilet block near a supermarket on Burgundy Street in Heidelberg about 1.20pm last Friday, police said.
Detectives said the man followed the girl into the bathroom cubicle where he allegedly assaulted her and then walked with her to a nearby hotel where she asked for help and called police.
