In 2007, People First of Canada partnered with the National Film Board of Canada on The Freedom Tour a documentary meant to raise awareness of the historical problems and cases of abuse at institutions housing those with intellectual disabilities.
Ruston travelled with the tour and acted as an interviewer.
“He advocated for the closure of institutions,” Cook said. “(The tour) drove across the Prairie provinces and found people who had lived in institutions and were willing to tell their stories.”
Staying safe comes at the price of limited family connection for those in Community Living
The pandemic has made family visitation much for difficult for those supported by Community Living Windsor some unable to see family at all.

Windsor above vaccination target, seniors homes in outbreak can now receive shot
Windsor Regional Hospital says it is above its vaccination target and has been approved by public health to start vaccinating some seniors homes that are currently experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
