Midway Home Solutions, which started out as a modest mom-and-pop repair shop in Victorville before expanding multiple times over the next six decades, has reached its end.
On Monday, Howard’s, an independent appliance retailer based in Southern California, announced its upcoming acquisition of Midway’s operations and assets. Howard’s will begin operation on June 15, according to a press release.
“We are thrilled that Howard’s will continue the legacy of what we have built here in Victorville,” Midway CEO Don Lager said in the release. “Howard’s commitment to the customer experience and product support mirrors our own. We look forward to seeing what new and exciting opportunities Howard’s will bring to the area’s 400,000 residents.”

A 2019 Silverado High School graduate and former member of the Hawks baseball team has been identified as the person killed in a Sunday morning car crash on a remote stretch of Interstate 15 north of Barstow.
Troy Matthew Yoda, 19, of Victorville, died at the scene north of Alvord Mountain Road following the single-vehicle crash, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Division said in a statement.
The California Highway Patrol Barstow Area Office said Yoda had been driving south on I-15 just after 7 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle, a 2001 Honda, veered into the center median and later went airborne when it entered Manix Wash. The front of the car then hit the wash’s concrete wall.
