THE govt will enforce Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Kampung Datuk Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Datuk Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Kluang, effective midnight (March 27) until April 9.Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a statement, said the decision was taken on the advice of the health minister after the Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed that there were 83 positive cases of Covid-19 infection in the Kluang district in Johor, with 61 cases coming from the two areas.“The purpose of the EMCO is to prevent Covid-19 infection from spreading out of the area.
Member of Parliament for Sandakan, Vivian Wong welcomed the District Health Department’s latest move to commence vaccination drive at locations that are currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) here in the effort to mitigate the risk exposure faced by residents in these areas.
She first raised the issue of vaccination for residents at EMCO areas on July 28 during the parliamentary debate on the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, urging the government to embark on a vaccination drive for residents at EMCO areas to prevent a perpetual cycle of lockdowns without a real solution.
According to the district health department, vaccination drive has started this week at two EMCO locations in Sandakan, namely Taman Murni, LPPB flat at Sri Taman and Taman Harmoni

THE Menara City One on Jalan Munshi Abdullah in Kuala Lumpur (KL) has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) beginning today until April 13.Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made after the Ministry of Health had confirmed 17 Covid-19 infections at the residential tower.“The EMCO will involve 3,200 residents at 502 condominium units and business premises in the tower,” he said in a statement yesterday.
