Just under 650 people have closed their Pandemic Unemployment Payment in the past week and returned to work.
The latest figures from the Department of Social Protection show 6,989 people have received the state support this week, which is more than half the number claiming the PUP since it was introduced in May last year.
They’re among more than 285,200 people across the country who are receiving the support, the first time the figure has fallen below 300,000 since December.

Meanwhile, the number of people who have been medically certified to receive the Enhanced Illness Benefit in Clare has climbed to 3,085.
