CHR to probe alleged fake surrender of rebels in Bulacan, urges military to investigate too

The Commission on Human Rights on Saturday, May 15, 2021, says it will endorse to its regional offices the reports on the alleged fake mass surrender of some 244 communist rebels in Bulacan for investigation. The CHR also urges the military to conduct its own parallel investigation. The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Saturday said it will conduct prompt investigation into the alleged fake mass surrender in Bulacan of 244 supposed communist rebels said to be affiliated with Bayan Muna and Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY).

CAMP OSITO BAHIAN, Malaybalay City, May 13 Seventeen members of the New People s Army (NPA) recently surrendered to the 1st Special Forces Battalion (1SFBn) operationally controlled by 403rd Infantry Brigade, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
Lieutenant Colonel Vercisio G. San Jose Jr, 1SFBn commander, said that precise intelligence operation and relentless physical pressure resulted in the massive surrender. This group operates under Guerilla Fronts 68A and 68B, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad all of Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) 4, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC). The cooperation of their [NPA] relatives and concerned local government units also contributed to this mass surrender, he said.
BALBALAN, Kalinga, May 11 (PIA) - - Eleven barangays of this municipality will benefit from various government programs and projects with their coverage in the Community Support Program (CSP) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines through the 50th Infantry Battalion, in partnership with the local government unit and national line agencies.
Barangays covered and identified as End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) areas are Balantoy, Gawa-an, Ab-abaan, Ba-ay, Balbalasang, Buaya, Dao-angan, Maling, Talalang, Pantikian, and Mabaca.
The program launching recently was highlighted with the signing of Certificate of Acceptance and Certificate of Commitment to guarantee mutual support to the CSP teams in the municipality.
