Cadiz awarded $616,402 for sidewalk improvements | News, Sports, Jobs

Times Leader Staff Writer CADIZ The village of Cadiz has been awarded $616,402 in grant funding toward a sidewalk improvement project. Cadiz Mayor John Migliore said the village secured the funds through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives Program a program that provides funding for infrastructure improvement projects. “I wanted to share some good news with the community. Last Friday I got word from OMEGA (Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association) that the TAP grant that we applied for last year has gone through,” he said during Thursday’s evening council meeting. The funding will go toward a $733,190 sidewalk improvement project along portions of U.S. 250 and Ohio 9. The $116,730 balance will come from the village’s Tax Increment Financing, he said.

CADIZ Although the village is anticipating a decrease in its income tax collections this year, the numbers are projected higher than the year prior. During Thursday’s Cadiz Village Council meeting, Village Administrator Ted Andrzejewski said the village is projected to collect around $1.35 million this year in income tax collections. He said the village has already collected $303,348.89 for the first quarter. That figure does not include the withholding taxes which are not due until the end of this month.

Dozens of local officials and patrons attended the library’s grand reopening Wednesday. The library recently underwent a $1.1 million renovation project that includes handicap accessible features, a new front entrance, a local history section, expanded children’s department, a new teen section, private study rooms, maker space, recording studio, genealogy area and more.
