JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Even the rain couldnât stop a surprise parade held for retiring Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor-elect Harold Copenhaver knocked on Perrinâs door, and then everyone was greeted by dozens of cars.
Drivers honked, waved, and even had signs for Mayor Perrin, all wishing him a great retirement.
None of this wouldâve been possible without the secretive work from Mayor Perrinâs family and the city employees.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - After serving the people of Jonesboro for decades, retiring Mayor Harold Perrin finally received the key to the city.
The city council presented the key to Perrin during Tuesday night’s meeting. They also proclaimed Dec. 15 as “Harold Perrin Day.”
Perrin, who has served as mayor for the past 12 years, chose not to seek re-election due to a health issue. Just last week he completed his last round of chemotherapy for bladder cancer.
