(Monroe, La.) – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, is providing free, convenient access to colorectal cancer screening kits during the month of July. Discovering cancers in their earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers.
All colorectal screening kits are available to those who have not been screened in the past 12 months. To reserve your screening kit, please call (318) 414-9758.
During COVID-19, the Cancer Center has taken steps to ensure the safety of both participants and staff. A number of practices are in place to ensure the safety of everyone, such as increased frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting practices for high-touch areas and appointments for all screenings to ensure social distancing.

Terrebonne General Health System, along with its partner Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, has named Amy Boudreaux the Cancer Center Program Director.
Boudreaux, a registered nurse, is a Houma native and is a graduate of the Loyola College of Nursing with 28 years of professional nursing healthcare experience. She has served as the manager of Medical Oncology at the Cancer Center since December 2018. With the combination of Boudreaux s passion for oncology and her leadership experience, we are confident we will continue to provide the very best treatment options unique to each patient, said Monica Allen, Cancer Center service line administrator.

Officials announced the new name and branding during a presentation Wednesday at the Houma hospital.
Officials said the change better reflects the public facility s role as a comprehensive community resource that delivers hospital and preventative care as well as basic health services offsite. As we continue to grow and be innovative, we felt that what we have today doesn’t describe who we are or what we do, Terrebonne General President and CEO Phyllis Peoples told employees and others at the gathering. It describes four walls and a building and, because of that, we felt the need to make a change.”
